This started in Amsterdam, but is now also done in the Dutch cities of Utrecht, Den Haag, Rotterdam and the Belgian city of Antwerpen. It is all done by volunteers, each of these cities has a number of “Poets on duty”. Some of them, like Neeltje Maria Min, Judith Herzberg, Bart Chabot and Eva Gerlach are well-known poets in The Netherlands. Apart form the poem, the volunteers select three pieces of music to be played at the funeral.
