Okay, let me explain you kids a thing:
This is Stephen Hillenburg
Spongebob series creator and original showrunner.
He ran the show from 1999 through 2004 (shortly after the first Spongebob Movie) up until the third season finished.
After the movie came out, he wanted to end the series, for fear that it would jump the shark if it went on any longer. Unfortunately, Nickelodeon had other plans, and requested more episodes to be made. So Hillenburg resigned from his position as showrunner and appointed Paul Tibbit.
So all those episodes we all love to quote from our childhood? Those were all Hillenburg-era, anything after the Movie came out, is when the show started really going downhill
