Death is nature’s way of saying, “Your table is ready.” - Robin Williams (July 21, 1951 - August 11, 2014)
Reblogged from intoasylum :
Brought out these old VHS tapes of my top favourite Robin Williams movies from my childhood, in honour of his death today. I’m still in shock at his passing, and just so heartbroken. I was in love with each of these films as a kid, specifically Aladdin and Jumanji. But I think it’s Hook that will always occupy the biggest space in my heart. I was obsessed with the story of Peter Pan as a child, and the movie Hook just made my love for that timeless tale grow even more.
They’re saying he apparently took his own life, which just makes this even harder and sadder. It just goes to show that even the people who seem happiest— the ones who spend their entire lives making others laugh— can very well be harbouring a very sad and dangerous darkness inside themselves. As they say, “the ones who bring great joy often know great pain.” It’s terribly unfortunate and unfair that so many people are plagued with Depression, and feel the need to commit suicide. It’s obviously never the answer. But I hope something as big as Robin’s death can bring more awareness to suicide and/or depression, and make people realize the heaviness of this illness.
Rest in Peace, Robin. Your light will live on in our laughter every time we watch your amazing talent on our screens. Gone, but never forgotten.
