“Ender Falls” by Corwin Prescott
November 12th 2013We left philly a couple of days ago to try and catch the last days of fall in New England. I’d promised s clouse photography we could make the trip, and that their would be sea food. Getting around New England, and finding the remote, but beautiful locations is a little more difficult than the rest of the country. None of these places seem to have addresses. You find them the pre-gps way. You follow lazily written directions, and hope they aren’t a lie.
We got to the Ender Falls trail head much later than either of us wanted to, around midnight, and both of us being artists, not starving, but never far from the risk of it, we elected to sleep in our car and head down the trail around sunrise. We’re both pretty good at sleeping in cars by now. Over the past four years I have done about 6 months of sleeping in the car or tent.
We woke up early and it was cold, well below freezing the car was blanketed in frost. We had to struggle to get out of our sleeping bags and get dressed for the day. Throw our 40lb bags of gear onto our backs and head down stream.
